Priority Issues

Economic Prosperity through Environmental Sustainability

  • Collaborate citywide efforts to integrate environmentally sustainable practices and resources efficiently into municipal operations
  • Require city departments to coordinate and cooperate to implement existing plans in a fiscally responsible manner to strengthen economic development
  • Support local small business owners through incentives that will create new job growth and uphold this growth for years to come

Education, Arts, Culture, and Vocational Skills Development

  • Increase collaboration between the City and Denver Public Schools (ECE-12)
  • Improve accessibility for DPS students to better utilize schools and programs that promote skill development such as the Career Education Center and North High School’s Computer Magnet program
  • Maintain quality recreation centers, work to keep libraries open, expand arts and cultural experiences for Denver residents
  • Encourage and educate the public about the rewards of volunteering and voting

Children, Families, Senior Citizens, and Neighborhoods

  • Prioritize people over things
  • Create and maintain peer mentors for youth, and promote programs that connect seniors with the community
  • Encourage civic engagement by fostering spirit and pride through community events and neighborhood activities

Public Safety, Human Health and Equality for All

  • Continue to enforce graffiti reduction efforts
  • Make bike parking more accessible
  • Support equal rights for all people regardless of age, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation
  • Increase collaborative efforts between the City and Denver Human Services
  • Maintain school and neighborhood based clinics
  • Maintain Police, Fire, and Sheriff Services
  • Maintain Public Infrastructures

Well-Designed and Well-Planned City

  • Promote planning, development, and zoning codes that reflect and respect Northwest Denver’s historical character while integrating modern elements
  • Promote community design as a means to create an environment that is walk-able, safe for children to play in, provides easy access to business, and a place where neighbors and friends can get together
  • Value the elements of District 1 neighborhoods that contribute to their individual character and distinct personality
